Lost and Found - Found and Lost highlights the paradoxical nature of our search to answer the philosophical and spiritual question ‘Who am I?’. This piece reflects my own research into spirituality in the form of Daoism, Advaita Vedanta and Zen Buddhism. The intuitive formation of highly detailed abstract and surreal forms are a result of a dance between my conscious and subconscious mind. The intensely crowded imagery encourages the viewer to begin searching for personal insights and their own understanding of the artworks underlying meaning or meanings. This work aims to have the viewer consider what has been found and lost at all stages of searching and conceptualizing the different visual forms contained within. The empty figure in the middle of the work exemplifies the way in which the perceived world forms our identity the substance of which is emptiness made form.
